Retailers have been the foundation for this Association since inception and the NMA’s number 1 goal has always been to protect, serve, and guide all of our retailer members in any way possible. Below is information on how we Protect our members, Serve our members, and Save our members money!
Retailer Benefits:
Government Relations-
NMA is an Association that believes in protecting and serving its members and we accomplish this goal through government relations. We fight for the independent stores who don’t usually have a powerful voice, but as all of our independent members come together as members of the NMA, it creates a very powerful and heard voice throughout local governments, state governments, and even the federal government. We are constantly fighting taxes, legislation, and local ordinances that hurt our members and small businesses. Vendor Programs-
NMA was founded for many reasons but one of the biggest reasons was to empower independent retailers to be able to compete against the larger stores and chains. Throughout the years, the Association has developed many programs with Vendors to save members money and to allow them to be on the same playing field as all of their competition. NMA has been recognized nationally as one of the top buying groups for the many money saving programs our members are able to participate in. NMA is set apart from all other associations because it is ONE power and ONE voice and this is what enables us to save our members money. Compliance-
NMA not only serves its members with its Government Relations, saves members money with Vendor Programs, but also protects our members. We provide all NMA members with all signage and paperwork required by law to operate. We take pride in making sure our members are compliant by supplying them with the correct information. We also provide FREE ABC Lead trainings in our offices once a quarter for only our members. We also offer Anti-Money Laundering assistance in our office for those who cash checks, sell money orders, and wire money. NMA also provides FREE up-to-date Federal and State labor law posters every year to each of our members.
Community Outreach-
The NMA values it’s relationship with their members and the community. We are willing to do whatever it may take to make sure all members know what is going on in the small business society and we also do our best to outreach to all of the local communities that surround our member’s stores. We donate to many different walks, fundraising events, luncheons, and programs to support the whole community. We also try our hardest to get information to all of our members via mail, emails, and phone calls, especially when the information requires immediate attention. Our website is updated regularly with information for all of our members, concerning recalls, ABC laws and requirements, news around your city, etc. We also send out a trimester magazine to every single member, as well as a yearly calendar. If there is any concern or question that the NMA members may have, our office is always ready to answer.
Events-
The Neighborhood Market Association loves to see all of our members on a regular basis and this is where our annual events come in. The NMA strives to have an event just about every other month. Two annual golf tournaments are held each year as well as a tasting event in three of our main counties of California. Our annual tradeshow each summer held in San Diego is one of largest events right after our Statewide Banquet held at the beginning of each year to celebrate all of the accomplishments of the association from the year prior. The relationship that the NMA holds with the members is one that will never be lost, especially with the face to face experiences we enjoy throughout the year when it doesn’t have to do with business, but rather our industry family just getting together.
